Solar Forecasting

The Leaptran-developed Sky Imager prototype is based on the pending patent, “distributed solar energy prediction imaging” assigned to the University of Texas System and was exclusively licensed by Leaptran in 2017. The functional tests of the prototypes are currently located in Austin and San Antonio, Texas respectively.

The prototype includes software and hardware components that capture sky images, solar irradiance measurements, and weather data as inputs to the embedded computational device that then provides a localized, minute-level solar irradiance and PV production prediction.
